Twinkle Solo

Buddy has almost completed his first year of violin lessons.  To note that accomplishment he had to play his first solo at a group recital.  He got to stand up in front of everyone and play "Lightly Row"  He loves his violin and did a great job.  It continues to surprise me how much he has learned in just one year.

Quilt Pictures

Gramma has made each kid a baby quilt when they were born.  I have tried to take a picture of each kid on their quilt at some point when they are babies.  The big kids saw me doing this for Scout and wanted picture of them on each of their quilts.  It was a fun afternoon talking about the quilts in our house and the love that went into making them.

I will make some notes about each, but I sure I will be wrong, so I am expecting my sister or mom to leave me a comment with the correction.

Starting with the youngest... Scout's quilt.  His is flannel backed (soft) and is a variation of "Attic Window" Wonderful bright colors and hand quilted. The pattern fabric is tractors.

This is Munchkin's quilt, it is a Log Cabin quilt with applique flowers on part of it. It is hand quilted with that flower shape on each of the blocks.
This is Buddies, his is blocks for each letter of the alphabet, some are pieced and some are applique, this one was hanging up on the wall of his room for a while. It is quilted to match each block and block letters are quilted in the border.
This is Princess's quilt and I have no idea what this pattern is called, but I like it.  In each white block is hand quilted a different toy or shape. (boat, teddy bear, duck, frog, heart, truck, train, doll)

The little one said....

There were 5 in the bed and the little one said, "Roll Over,  I'm crowded"

Brothers

There is something special about brothers.  This one loves to hold his little brother and play with him on the floor.

Gramma

Gramma came to spend a week with us and help out after Scout was born.  It is wonderful to have her hear.  She did my mending and ironing and laundry.  Plus she helped me wash all the curtains in the house and then put up mini blinds in the living room.  She also spent lots of time with all of the kids, playing games and just being here with them.  Thank you Gramma.  Of course we didn't take many pictures while she was here, we were too busy.  I did get a few before she left.

Strawberry picking

We picked strawberries again this year.  Actually everyone else (including Gramma) picked berries.  They picked twice, 20 lbs the first time and 40 lbs the second.  We made 6 batches of jam and maybe it will last us all year, but I am not sure.  It is a fun outing with the kids, and Princess and Buddy eat more than they pick.  Munchkin doesn't like berries for some reason, but will eat jam.

This is one of my favorite pictures, it is the berries Buddy picked before he got bored, but it shows Munchkin with her shoes on the wrong feet and the cuts bumps and bruises on both kids that are a normal part of summer in our house.

Egg Hunting

Easter is a lot of fun around here.  Daddy hid 74 plastic eggs filled with jelly beans in the back yard.  We gave Munchkin a head start, but then it was a free for all.  Daddy doesn't make it easy.

Can you spot the egg in this picture?

Don't ask my why my son isn't wearing a shirt...  I really have no idea, and have given up wondering why my kids do things.

Easter Eggs

We did manage to dye Easter eggs this year.  I let the kids write on them with crayon 1st and then color them.  They loved it and wanted to do more than one dozen, maybe next year.  (we started with a dozed 2 were dropped on the floor before this picture was taken.)

Scout's 1st Bath

Scout's 1st bath somehow turned into a family affair. He had quite the audience.  He didn't seem to mind and loved his bath.

He didn't like having to be dried off and dressed after his bath.
I love that his hair stands up straight on his had after his bath.  So cute.

Playtime

Munchkin has had to do a lot of adjustment since Scout's arrival.  She was used to spending all her time when the big kids were at school with just mom... now she has to share that attention with her little brother.  She is doing surprisingly well.  It helps that she is creative and loves to dress up and carry bags of stuff around the house to wherever I might be.

FInally more posts

I know it has been a while since I have updated.... things are crazy around here. And the new baby is only par of it.  School will be out this week and so there are end of year field trips and picnics, and recitals and parties.  Plus Gramma was here for a week.  So I have lots of pictures and I will be working on getting them on the blog.  But for now I can put this picture up and I have decided to call him "Scout" on the blog.

Family

Time for some fun pictures of our last few days. These are just a few of my favorites.

Notice Munchkin patiently waiting for her turn to hold her brother.

Grandma's turn to hold the baby.

Munchkin's baby

I found Munchkin playing with her baby this week.  I think she wants to use the bouncer for someone else.  I am actually waiting to come in the room and see this many toys surrounding her baby brother when he is in the bouncer.  He may not like putting his head on tinker toys and legos.

Who is hiding behind that book?

The big kids love to be around the baby, they want to hug him, hold him and kiss him. In my attempt to give the child some space I suggested that they read him a book.   This is what happened, actually I think this is the 3rd book.  The first one was held in Princess's lap, but then they had to compete to see who could get closest to the baby.

New Baby

We have a new little baby boy in the house.
He was born April 13th and was 8lbs, 9 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.

He is healthy and well loved by his brother and sisters.  I am asked about every 15 minutes if they can hold him.   We are teaching the kids all about babies, and they are learning quick.  They are good at helping me with lots of stuff.
I will post lots and lots of pictures soon, I just seem to be having a problem finding the time.

As a side note, I now need a new nickname for the baby.  Leave me a comment with your suggestion.  Maybe "Little Man" or ??? I don't know, I am out of ideas.
