Family

Time for some fun pictures of our last few days. These are just a few of my favorites.

Notice Munchkin patiently waiting for her turn to hold her brother.

Grandma's turn to hold the baby.

Munchkin's baby

I found Munchkin playing with her baby this week.  I think she wants to use the bouncer for someone else.  I am actually waiting to come in the room and see this many toys surrounding her baby brother when he is in the bouncer.  He may not like putting his head on tinker toys and legos.

Who is hiding behind that book?

The big kids love to be around the baby, they want to hug him, hold him and kiss him. In my attempt to give the child some space I suggested that they read him a book.   This is what happened, actually I think this is the 3rd book.  The first one was held in Princess's lap, but then they had to compete to see who could get closest to the baby.

New Baby

We have a new little baby boy in the house.
He was born April 13th and was 8lbs, 9 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.

He is healthy and well loved by his brother and sisters.  I am asked about every 15 minutes if they can hold him.   We are teaching the kids all about babies, and they are learning quick.  They are good at helping me with lots of stuff.
I will post lots and lots of pictures soon, I just seem to be having a problem finding the time.

As a side note, I now need a new nickname for the baby.  Leave me a comment with your suggestion.  Maybe "Little Man" or ??? I don't know, I am out of ideas.

Caught Reading again

Before Church on a sunny front step.
At the exact same time, this one was getting a band-aid on his knee and "reading" this book to his little sister, unfortunately he saw me with the camera and wouldn't smile or look at me...

Kid Crafts

I mentioned how I am a sucker for doing stuff for and with my kids.

This week Princess asked to make a picture with fabric.... So out came the stash of felt and the fabric glue.
Each kid made their own picture on a background of white felt.  I am going to have to restock my supply of craft felt for them.

Princess' has a bonfire at sinset with a purple sky
Munchkin's is something I am not too sure about, she keeps me guessing and I know it has trees, and a road, and an orange bush and some other stuff. She wanted lots of colors.
Buddy's is probably one of my favorite art pieces he has done. It has a tree, and a blueberry bush with  berries.  and a butterfly with red spots. It makes me smile, and he even let me take a normal picture of him smiling.

What do you do when you can't reach your toes to give youself a pedicure..... You let your 7-yr old princess paint your nails in the front yard.  They look beautiful.........

Much Anticipated Easter Baskets

I finally finished the kids Easter baskets, or maybe I should say buckets.  They are not perfect but I love them, and so do the kids, PLUS they store compact and flat from year to year and they can be machine washed for when the chocolate melts in the sun. They took a lot longer than I expected, but they were worth the time.  Buddy picked out his own train fabric, and the girls chose if they wanted the pink or the floral fabric on the outside.   These are the ones for our family.
I did make another blue stripe that was supposed to be for Buddy, but he didn't like it, so I made him a second one.  This one turned into a nice gift basket to give away to the neighbor who is having a baby boy this week.  I filled it with 3 burp clothes, and 2 chenille washclothes I made in 5 minutes this week.

Daddy Sewing

Daddy has been working on a sewing project of his own lately and it has been very interesting to watch.... He is making himself a hammock to go backpacking.  This is double layer to accomodate a sleeping/insulation pad and a bug netting on top.  It is actually pretty cool, and it is kind of fun teaching him how to sew and the importance of little things... like pins and how to put the foot down on the machine... he is learning pretty quickly.

Pinning it together
Trying to sew a straight seam (in his words, like a drunken sailor, but I give him credit, it is tough to sew nylon)

New Zoo

The local zoo just added a whole bunch of new animals and a "Trail of the Tiger"  We decided to go on opening weekend for a short little while.  It was fun but very busy.  Unfortunately a lot of the animals are new to their homes and spent a lot of time in their enclosures.  They had to put meat out in the grass to get the tigers to venture more than 2 feet from their night houses. The orangatans were in their enclosure wrapped up in blankets.  The zookeeper said it can take up to a year for them to feel comfortable enough to wander around freely.  It was also too cold for the new birds, so they won't be out for another 2 weeks.   We will have to go back in a few weeks when it isn't so busy and the animals have been around a little bit longer.

These are the only animals that got their picture taken. I think they are the best animals at the zoo.

Kids crafts

I am a sucker for my kids asking me to make them stuff.  This week I told Munchkin that I was going to work in my sewing room, her comment "Are you going to make me my house?"   She has been asking for me to make her this house for a while.  I decided it was the time to make her happy.  So she got her house and I got almost 2 hours of uninterupted sewing time while she played with her new toy.

Signs of Spring

Other sure signs of spring, trips to get ice cream cones.

Princess did get a little bit chilled after eating her cone.

Too Big

We thought Munchkin was too big for the backpack.... but she does fit, barely.   Daddy even managed to carry her for a long walk around the neighborhood.  She still loves it.

Chocolate Season

It is getting close to Easter and that means Daddy is getting into Chocolate molding again.  He tries to do it every year, but does not always succeed and is continually modifying his methods.  Desite it all, he keeps trying, and this year his first batch came out of the molds not looking so great, but he has fun and we enjoy the fruit of his labor.   The kids like to help too, but I am not sure how much help they really can be.

Bounce

We have had a few birthday parties the last few weeks.  It keeps us busy.  The kids love the ones with the bounce houses.  For the first time Munchkin actually got over her fear of them and played well.  Her favorite was the one with the big slide.

By the way, Buddy does not like having his picture taken lately.  He got a new very short haircut that he loves.  I am getting used to it, it is easier than brushing his hair every morning.  Maybe I will post a better picture soon, but this give you the general idea.

Spring Pennants

We made some fun MOPS crafts this spring, this one is my favorite, and I wished I could see where my friends hung their Pennants.  Everyone made unique pennants to decorate their houses for spring.  Most of them turned out A LOT nicer than mine, but I like mine too.

This one is on Princess's bed and she loves it.
