Little booger

The big kids have a new nickname for the baby. She loves to eat food and gets so excited that she swings her arms around and blows bubbles. Of course getting baby food EVERYWHERE. Usually I keep feeding her and try not to get frustrated, but I have started saying things like "You little booger stop it" Now of course the kids have started calling her that once in a while. I am trying to stop calling her that. I really don't want it to become her nickname, but then I saw this picture and it fits.

Pink Jeep?

The neighbor girl has a pink Barbie Jeep, it is the FAVORITE toy of my son. All he wants is to get rides with the neighbor driving, or ask over and over and over again if he can drive it. Since it is not his toy he has to ask, and gets very upset with lots of tears if he is told he can't get in it. But just look at this smile... He loves it.

Swimming

I have finally put the kids in swimming lessons this summer. Buddy is 3 and he can finally participate without me in the water. Princess does great and was swimming with just a noodle by herself.
Buddy on the other hand was very nervous and still won't willingly put his face in the water, but he was very excited to jump off the side of the pool.

The Band

For some reason my kids decided that today was music day and they wanted to listen to music all morning after swimming lessons. Then they wanted to get out the rhythm instruments to play outside. (They are stored in a child safe location, because they are VERY LOUD) They haven't played with them in several months and I forgot where they we stored at first.

They were so cute, they had to get the neighbors involved and put on a show for the parents. Buddy kept on singing/screaming "Make a joyful noise LORD" And maked as much noise as possible. I was just glad they were outside.

The Baby even got involved, she just wanted to chew on it since she is teething yet again.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!!
I love this picture, she is just a happy Baby.

Bedtime

I think it is time to put Princess to bed later. She is still awake now and she was put to bed about an hour and a half ago. She is good and basically just plays in her bed, but this is a regular occurrence where she stays awake for a long time. I don't know how to put Buddy to bed first since the 2 big kids share a room, but I think it needs to happen. Leave me a comment if you have any ideas.

VBS

This week has been a hectic week. We had Vacation Bible School every day this week and Princess loved it. Buddy was not a fan and by Thursday woke up crying "I don't like Vacation Bible School" We think it has something to do with Daddy being gone. The teachers had to peel him off me in the morning and I hid most of the day, because if he saw me he would cry all over again. I talked to his teachers and he did fine once I was gone, but just the departure was rough. It was great to have my friend help in his class, so I knew he was in good hands.

Today they had a program for all the parents and it was very cute. Of course I forgot the camera, so I don't have any pictures.

When we got home today the kids brought home all their art projects and decorated the house for Daddy. Princess had to add decorations to every room, our house looks a little crazy and it is still a little while until he comes home. Our Mantel has paper monkeys hanging from it and there are wax paper butterfly's hanging from the light fixture in the dining room. I guess I will get used to it for a little while.

What to tell Daddy

Daddy is underway this week, so we won't see him for a few days. But we do have email that we can write him. The kids are aware of this and today Princess told me "Mommy when you email daddy this is what the email needs to say. Daddy, the children miss you and love you"

I almost fell over laughing. She was very specific about what the email needed to say, and she even repeated it.

Of course her next phrase was, "When you email daddy can we play a Dora game on the computer"

Cheap Diapers

I was trying to save money... This time it didn't work as well as I expected. They had a deal where if you used 2 coupons you could get 3 packages of Walgreen's diapers for less than $5 AND I got a register receipt for $5 to use on a future purchase. So basically I got 3 packages of diapers for free. I thought I couldn't go wrong.
Until I started using them, the baby got really bad diaper rash, but trying to be optimistic. I thought it was just from teething. It went away, but then as soon as I stopped putting Desitin on at every diaper change it came right back. So now I have gotten out the more expensive diapers and no more diaper rash.
I guess the cheap diapers are going to be donated to the food pantry.

Happy Birthday Buddy!!

We celebrated Buddy's birthday yesterday a little bit early. Since daddy is going to be out of town for his real Birthday we decided that a week early is not a big deal.

This is his favorite present, the motorcycle. He takes it everywhere.

He also got two monster trucks, after watching cousin Cameron's Monster truck dvd, he loves monster trucks, so he loves them.

The other present that was more for daddy was shields to go with the swords, this way it makes the sword fights a little more even. 2 kids with swords and shields against Daddy with one sword.

Week at home

This week was really a Stay-at-home mom week. For the first time ever, I didn't run any errands with the kids all week and I only left the house to go to the gym and the grocery store at night. The van only moved out of the driveway once and that was just to go to the library. So it was nice to have a quiet week at home.

I couldn't do this every week, but next week will be busy with Vacation Bible School every day, so a quiet week was good.

Hullabaloo

We go to the library about once a week and are part of their summer reading program. If the kids read at least 20 minutes a week they get to enter a raffle. The Princess won the raffle this week and we picked up her prize yesterday. She won the Hullabaloo game from Cranium. It is the perfect game for a 4 year old. It is a little bit tough for buddy to play, but he tried valiantly.

Princess loves it and spent a long time playing with mommy and then she had to play with daddy when he came home from work. It is the perfect game for her age.

#$!@ Squirrels

We have attempted to plant some vegetables this year... However we have a little problem. OK so maybe a few big problems.
First we planted zucchini and summer squash, we planted 6 in the front yard and 6 in the back. The 6 in the back got eaten by the rabbits, but the 6 in the front are doing OK so far. They don't have any vegetables on them yet.

Then we planted a bunch of tomato plants. They are doing really well, and we started to get some cherry tomato's. The plants are huge.

The problem now is that we have evil squirrels. This is what they do to our tomatoes. We have not gotten to eat any tomatoes yet. The squirrels have eaten most of them.

We also have a problem with the apple tree. The neighbors think it is hilarious to watch the squirrels each pick an apple off the tree and then parade along the top of the fence, each with an apple in their mouth. (I got one apple last year) I am hoping that they will at least leave us some zucchini and squash.

Rainy Day Lego's

I love my parents, they send me presents in the mail and once in a while they have better than normal timing. Yesterday was a rainy day and the kids were not doing well. I woke up to the sound of them fighting, it didn't get much better until the mail came.
Grandma and Grandpa sent a box of Lego's and everything improved. The kids LOVED them and were entertained inside on a rainy day. Even Daddy got to play with them when he got home.

Blocks

Most people think blocks are for kids, but I know better. My husband gave me the best birthday present last year. Perfect for the engineer in me. they are called Keva Blocks and I love them. The kids call them Mommy's blocks. Each block is identical to all the others and it keeps on surprising us as to what you can build with them.

This stucture is taller than it looks and it was a challenge to keep in from toppling. It was one of the early ones, and isn't exactly straight.

This is the inside of the structure above

Daddy actually built this one, I never knew he had such talent. This one is actually built on the carpet and that is harder.

4th of July

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house. The whole family loves it at their house. We got to go sailing again, kayaking, spent lots of time in the pool AND they got to meet their new cousin Riley for the first time. We also took the Princess and Buddy to see their first fireworks. Princess loved them, but Buddy hated the noise. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for watching the baby so we could go see the fireworks.

This is new cousin Riley, with her mommy and the Princess.

Daddy and 2 kids on the kayak, it was surprising that we actually were able to fit both mommy and daddy and 2 kids on the kayak, but we didn't get a picture of that one, the boat was riding pretty low.

The kids loved playing in the pool, but we couldn't figure out why they are wearing life jackets and goggles in a kiddie pool, but they had a great time. The daddies had a great time too.

I think this is just the cutest picture of the baby in the hammock.

Sleeping Baby

I have learned that Baby will sleep anywhere. Case in point, this is where I found the baby while we were working around the house. She was playing happily in her saucer, she never cried and it was not her normal nap time. I guess she was just tired, probably due to her teeth. She got her first tooth on Tuesday, and then the 2nd 6 days later.

Tough Boy

Buddy fell again last week. This time he got his knee, forhead and nose. Despite it all, he refused a band-aid, but everyone kept asking us what happened.

Imagination

The kids have a great imagination. This week we were given eight green plastic chairs from a friend who moved away and couldn't fit them in the moving van. They are lightweight and relatively inexpensive.

The kids think they are the best toys around, they have turned the chairs into everything. I was hoping to take pictures, but I temporarily lost my camera in the stroller. (found it tonight) We have made trains, beds, bridges and step and slides (I don't know what that is either) I am waiting to see what they will make next. Maybe next time I will get pictures.
