Drawing

Munchkin found this huge piece of paper in the back of her closet... so everyone got to color today, even though no one would look at the camera.

Video

This is for my niece J, she loves to watch videos of the kids and I haven't posted any in a while.

Doctor and Park Day

This week Munchkin had her 18 month doctor appointment and I had to bring all of the kids with me. I usually try not to do this so I can actually talk to the doctor without distraction, but some days it doesn't work out that way.

AMAZINGLY the kids were perfectly behaved, they sat on the floor out of the way in the exam room and they were very quiet. Munchkin even babbled happily to the doctor and never cried. Then they did the same thing in the immunization clinic. The nurse was so impressed all 3 kids got lolipops and stickers. Munchkin even sat on the floor in their little line after her shots because she wanted to be like them.
To celebrate we went to the store and bought snacks and drinks and then went to the park and played. I usually never let them pick out their own treats, so they were very excited.

2nd glue-ing

We made another trip to the ER this week. Princess fell into a chair while running into the house to get ready for bed.

She didn't end up going to bed until after 11 PM, a record for her. She is fine and didn't cry at the hospital at all. I think she enjoyed the mom and daughter time, she was laughing and had lots of energy. It is rare that I get to spend 4 hours with only one child. We were prepared and had books, a doll, and the best of all Travel Aquadoodle. It was still a long wait, but she was as best behaved as you can expect a 5 year old to be.

Her cut is pretty small, but was very deep. They glued it shut and we left within 2 minutes of the doctor finishing.

By the way, this is the 2nd time she has done this. When she was 3 she fell while going back UP the steps to bed, she had gotten out of bed for some innane reason and I sent her straight back up the stairs, she slipped and hit her chin on the wood step. We spent 4 hours in a different ER, they glued her chin then. Of course that time she fell asleep in the ER after they had finished so I had to carry her out the the car when she was asleep at 11:00PM.

1st trim

Munchkin's hair has been driving me crazy. Her bangs were in her eyes and every time I tried to put in a clip she pulled it out in less than 10 seconds. This week I finally gave up and trimmed her bangs. At least now she can see. Though she can still get peanut butter everywhere.

Flowers

I am not a great gardener, but I do have a few flowers that survive. Most of them are from the people who lived in the house before us and I somehow have managed to not kill them. I usually ignore them but the kids have been taking pictures again. The pictures turned out pretty good.

Inside fort

We built another fort in the kids bedroom this weekend. It was in the 90s outside, so the AC was nice. Their bedroom did finally get picked up after this, but it is a disaster when they play in their room a lot. Most of the stuff you see is actually stuff that Princess sleeps with in her bed. She usually has one pillow, about 2-3 blankets and about 10 dolls/stuffed animals, including the huge purple unicorn she loves.

Package

I love getting mail, and this week my mom sent me a bunch of stuff that used to be mine when I was little. Some of the stuff was strange, including a story I had probably written in 1st grade. Princess fell in love with this little doll. Of course she pulled the hair off already so I had to do a little surgery to sew the hair back on, but she loved it and now it has been added to the collection of the dolls she sleeps with in bed.

Tray

Why should we leave the tray on the high chair and not pull the chair up to the table? Then at least she couldn't reach her feet to smear peanut butter on them.

Forts

The kids are really into building forts lately. This is one of their favorites, another of their favorites is a sheet attached from the top of the fence to the ground. They love them and can be entertained for hours playing with them.

Entertainment

Entertainment in our neighborhood consists of a concrete truck coming to build a driveway across the street.

Pop-Pop

Daddy's grandfather passed away recently. He was a great man, and loved to call me to ask about his great-grandchildren. I will miss his calls. We drove to the funeral and it was really a good time of closure. His health has been deteriorating recently and he has lived a full life. This is the last time we saw him. He came to visit right after Munchkin's birth. Hanging out with the family was fantastic, we don't get to see the extended family very often. This is everyone who attended. We missed Aunt C and cousin R. The kids loved hanging out with the cousins. Princess had a particular attachment to these two... At least I didn't have to eat dinner with her on my lap, they had that joy.

A suitcase?

The kids thought it was fun to play in the suitcase... they all fit.

Amazing friends

I have some amazing friends. Rob's grandfather passed away last week and it was a tough week for us. I was doing laundry and unpacking from camping before re-packing to travel to a funeral. Amid this I made the realization that I didn't have any appropriate clothes for the big kids to wear to the funeral. I am getting stressed out about finding the time to go shopping when Daddy tells me to call my friends. He was right. I sent a message to 2 of my friends and by the next day I had great outfits including shoes for both kids. Thanks Girls, you are fantastic!

Camping

We completed our first summer camping trip. Despite the downpouring rain, we had a great time. The kids loved the beach and the hammocks. It is fun to camp in the summer because now that the kids are getting older they make friends all the time by just going to find other kids in nearby campsites. They made lots of friends and even got to hang out with a little puppy. Of course they have fun with little things. Like using the hatchet to pound stakes in the ground. Despite the torrential downpour Princess slept in her own tent for the first time and she was allowed to walk to the bathroom all by herself. She loved her little streak of independance.

Of course the hammocks were loved by all again. The kids love to play on those more than anything else. Though next time we will take them down before it rains. they never fully dried out. What good camping trip would be complete without a little wine... this is actually water, but she thought it was cool to drink out of the plastic wine glasses.

The mall again

On rainy summer days, my kids love the mall. There is a great play area and for $1 for parking they get to run and play. It tires them out so the rest of the day goes better. The Loony toons theme is lots of fun.

Summer stuff

Since our school is out, but the public schools are still in session I thought it would be a perfect time to go to the children's museum again. We love playing there and it was not busy at all. The kids favorite part is the blocks, you can build really great towers, but they are soft and the kids made a "birds nest" with them.

Waitin

We all have our little routines and I have one that my kids love. Usually before we go somewhere they are all ready to go and I am running around grabbing sippy cups, snacks, coffee, and other stuff. So I send them out to play in the front yard for a few minutes before I get out to the van. I think I took a little bit too long one day. This is how I found them when I walked out the door.

Buddy

Buddy does not like his picture to be taken, so I get lots of picturs of him that have this expression. He likes to take pictures of everything else... these are some of his recent pictures.

Homework

I did not expect summer homework, I guess it is pretty normal, but I did not expect quite as much. We have about 25 pages of homework (double sided) It is not real hard, but it will take some time. I figure if we will work on a few pages every week. and we have to record how much she reads to us and herself every day. This may be a challenge, especially since the little girl would rather be doing this. I hope we can get all this homework done over the summer without forgetting it.
