Cosmic Bowling

We took some cub scouts bowling and I am learning that I am not a fan of the "cosmic bowling"... the kids like it, but the crazy lights are annoying.
Since it was dark, this kid thought it was cool to kiss his reflection of the un-used touch screen.  We won't talk about how many germs are on it.
The boys - having fun.
And then there is Munchkin, she barely has the strength and the ball takes forever to get to the end of the lane, but she loves it.

Reading - more

We have a new reader in the house, and I love finding her curled up on the couch with a book.

This child is usually on the other end of the couch.
Daddy was trying to read too, but I think there are some other boys under that quilt.
And then this little one found his sisters library book.  It was all about how to build things with Lego's.  He read it for a long time and then was mad when I made him stop.  He loves this book and any book about fire engines.  Fire engines are his new obsession.
This is her attitude about her spelling homework.

Misc. Creations

This is just for my record, so I can remember some of what I made lately.

A candy bag for Munchkin
My scrap quilt - now hanging on the wall of my cubicle.
A Candy bag for Buddy - complete with fusible fleece letter and star.  With clip and strap to clip on the lacrosse stick.

Halloween 2013

Ready to hand out the candy.

Trick or treating with some friends.
Most of the crew -Elmo, Jasmine, Candy Corn, Flintstone, Ninja and Duck
He ran everywhere and did not want to be left behind, he knew there was candy going in his pumpkin.
 Lots of candy.
And Buddy finally let me take a picture of his whole costume. He looked great. and his treat bag clipped to his stick.

Pumpkin Carving - 2013

Yeah, I know it is late to be blogging about Halloween stuff, but that is just how life goes lately. We did carve pumpkins and I let the kids do all their own cutting this year.  They are learning and a few pumpkins didn't get lit because the holes in the top were too small to pull the insides out.

Here is my pumpkin.

This is Buddy's pumpkin, still with guts - he likes it that way.
This is Munchkins pumpkin and I helped her cut most of it.
This is Buddy's other pumpkin, just a mouth spewing guts.

Lit up for the big night.

I have no idea why I am missing a picture of Princesses pumpkin.  Some days are a little more hectic than others.

Fall 2013 pictures

I took the kids to a pumpkin patch and attempted to get pictures.  I did get one pretty good one.

The rest - not so much.

This one is not bad either, especially if you ignore the closed eyes and the one child looking at something interesting.

This one would have been really cool if the smallest child would have stayed in the picture.

Cub Scout Stilts

Daddy helped Buddy make some stilts.   He thought they were pretty cool.  Of course the next weekend we went camping with Cub Scouts and had to make 10 more sets.

Costumes 2013

I am actually 2 steps ahead and have the Halloween costumes finished for the year.  Well, except for the part about picking up some borrowed lacrosse gear so Buddy can be a Navy Lacrosse player, but he has a stick, a yard sale helmet and a jersey.

As for the girls, I assembled both their costumes for the year.  Munchkin requested a duck and so with some felt for a hat, some fleece for some feet and a feather boa pinned to a raincoat - A duck she shall be -

I think it looks a little unique, but she loves it and that is all that matters.

Now for Princess, she requested Candy Corn - So I found a tutorial online and followed it with a few exceptions.  (I used a T-shirt for the white and fleece for the rest. )   But then I had a realization, Candy corn have orange in the middle, not yellow.  Oops, I was going to pull it apart and start over, but she didn't seem to mind, so I just moved forward and made sure her hat and bag matched.
A little photo-bombing by the little one behind the door.
A great hat and a long warm fleece dress.
The whole outfit, she LOVES it.

Buddy, so happy with his preliminary costume - simple and no sewing, he just needs some pads to fill out the jersey.

Scout is going with one from the dress-up box , ELMO

Notes

Life has been busy lately, with me going back to work there have been some changes that happen.  So when Daddy has a day off work, he does drop-off, pick-up, homework and dinner prep and I get to work a full day.   Of course I come home to find notes like this one.

It just made me laugh, if the worst part of her day is Daddy making her do her homework neatly, she has a great dad.
