He ran everywhere and did not want to be left behind, he knew there was candy going in his pumpkin.
 Lots of candy.
And Buddy finally let me take a picture of his whole costume. He looked great. and his treat bag clipped to his stick.

Pumpkin Carving - 2013

Yeah, I know it is late to be blogging about Halloween stuff, but that is just how life goes lately. We did carve pumpkins and I let the kids do all their own cutting this year.  They are learning and a few pumpkins didn't get lit because the holes in the top were too small to pull the insides out.

Here is my pumpkin.

This is Buddy's pumpkin, still with guts - he likes it that way.
This is Munchkins pumpkin and I helped her cut most of it.
This is Buddy's other pumpkin, just a mouth spewing guts.

Lit up for the big night.

I have no idea why I am missing a picture of Princesses pumpkin.  Some days are a little more hectic than others.

Costumes 2013

I am actually 2 steps ahead and have the Halloween costumes finished for the year.  Well, except for the part about picking up some borrowed lacrosse gear so Buddy can be a Navy Lacrosse player, but he has a stick, a yard sale helmet and a jersey.

As for the girls, I assembled both their costumes for the year.  Munchkin requested a duck and so with some felt for a hat, some fleece for some feet and a feather boa pinned to a raincoat - A duck she shall be -

I think it looks a little unique, but she loves it and that is all that matters.

Now for Princess, she requested Candy Corn - So I found a tutorial online and followed it with a few exceptions.  (I used a T-shirt for the white and fleece for the rest. )   But then I had a realization, Candy corn have orange in the middle, not yellow.  Oops, I was going to pull it apart and start over, but she didn't seem to mind, so I just moved forward and made sure her hat and bag matched.
A little photo-bombing by the little one behind the door.
A great hat and a long warm fleece dress.
The whole outfit, she LOVES it.

Buddy, so happy with his preliminary costume - simple and no sewing, he just needs some pads to fill out the jersey.

Scout is going with one from the dress-up box , ELMO

Halloween 2012

Since I have posted here about 3 of the costumes, there is only one left.  Buddy decided to be a storm trooper.  He already had the helmet and My wonderful sister sent me the costume to go with it.  He had some problems seeing out of his helmet, so he took it off when he wasn't at a door.
The whole crew already to go get some candy!
The crew of pumpkins we carved.
The parent left home had the joy of sitting in the front yard with the fire handing out candy and roasting marshmallows.  It was a good night.

Princess Jelly Bean

Princess was looking at costumes with me on Pinterest.  Out of all the costumes, she picked a bag of Jelly beans.  By far one of the easiest costumes.  The biggest challenge was finding 5" balloons and then blowing them all up.  We spent a good portion of Halloween morning realizing the balloons we had were too small and then running to the store to get more balloons.

We reinforced the top and bottom of a large garbage bag with clear packing tape, cut some leg holes and then cut slits around the top to thread a ribbon.  Tied the ribbon over her shoulders and filled it with balloons.  She loved it but she had some challenges walking and was a little bit cold by the end of the night.  We did end up using clear tape to cinch up the sides so it wasn't so long.  Everyone loved her costume.

Munchkin's Crayon

Munchkin is going to be a Crayon for Halloween. Her costume was pretty simple to make and made me fall in love with fabric glue.  The fabric is left over and is hard to sew.  Using fabric glue for the ric-rac and the the letters made it easy. I just had to sew up the sides and the neck.  The hardest part was cutting the letters out of the black felt.  It is cheap craft felt and tough to cut out.

Her hat is just an old Birthday hat.

Camera

What happens when you give a camera to a 6 year old.  You get lots and lots and lots of pictures of the pumpkins they carved.  These are just a few of the ones that turned out pretty good.

This one was taken by a 3-yr old, and I love the look on her brothers face.

Strange

It seems strange that I am posting Halloween pictures when it is almost Christmas.  But if I don't start them now, they may never get documented and the family will never see them.

This was not actually Halloween, but instead a play-in for violin.  But I tried to get a picture of all 4 kids looking and smiling, I did not succeed, but these are my 2 favorites.
This one just makes me laugh.  The kids were having fun.
 At the play-in.
The whole group, Princess is in the back row, but you can't really see her.
