Teeth?

I don't have any pictures, but my children make me laugh, and sometimes I just can't help but share.
Both Princess and Buddy are taking violin lessons and for the most part they love them.  Their teacher is wonderful and she is always using her creativity to teach the kids.

This week Buddy is playing a song about a monkey.  "I'm a little monkey, climbing up a ladder, climbing to the top to, get a pink banana, I'm a little monkey, climbing down the ladder, climbing to the bottom, eat a pink banana"   Well, she drew a picture of a banana tree and asked Buddy to figure out what she was drawing.  He wasn't getting it and kept guessing random things,  a zoo, a flower, a car.... finally, she gave him a hint.  "They are yellow"

Buddy's response... "Is it teeth?"   - I guess he thinks all teeth are yellow and grow on trees.

Where does he come up with these things?

A while

OK it has been a while since I have updated here, but I claim to have a good reason.  We have had a few things happen lately.  The van got broken into while we were out hiking.  We came back to find glass all over the van and my purse (mostly empty) the diaper bag, and the camera gone.  So now we are temporarily without a camera and I don't have a lot of pictures to post.  So this space has been pretty empty, but we have been busy. I will give you the bulleted version of what we have been doing.
  • Princess had another birthday and so now she is 7.   She is very proud to be bigger and the same age of most of her classmates.
  • My sister came to visit with her kids, so we had a great time hanging out with the cousins. We went shopping in Williamsburg and spent too much money on kids.
  • We went to the pumpkin patch and petting zoo and the kids loved the hayride even thought munchkin was scared of all the chickens and turkeys running around loose. Princess and Buddy managed to catch and pick up a few chickens, and feed the goats.
  • We have had lots of play dates and lots ot time spent outside now that the weather is cooler.
  • A friend gave us 3 new bigger bikes.  One is the right size for Princess and she likes her new one.  Buddy's is way too big, but he manages to ride it anyway and says his old one is too small.
  • I bought an art easel for $2 at a yard sale and the kids love it.  Munchkin now has permanent marker stains on her fingers, but loves to show me all her artwork.
I guess that is most of it for now... Hopefully I will manage to get out and buy a new camera this week so that I can get some more pictures up here soon.   I miss being able to take pictures.

Historic Jamestown

We took a day and took the family to historic Jamestown, it was pretty cool, but it had a lot of reading and not much for little kids.  They didn't mind, they were happy running through the grass and checking out the water, and then climbing on the pretend archeaological foundations.  We had fun and it is always fun to get away and be tourists.

Pool

Wow, it has been a while since I have written on here, but we have been pretty busy.  The kids are back in school, and violin has started.

We did get to spend part of Labor day weekend and the pool, the kids loved the waterslides.  This little one loves jumping off the edge of the pool, this is into the kiddie pool.
Yes, she did fall on the concrete and get band-aids on both knees.
Daddy got to play on the waterslides too, if you look close, you can see Princess standing at the top, but the kids didn't like this one, it has too far of a drop at the end.
The kids liked this one better.
Then they also loved climbing and going across the lily pads.

OUCH

Our backyard should be listed as a mosquito habitat.   This is Princess's leg (18 bites on one leg), and Munchkins arm (8 bites on one arm) tonight after less than an hour outside.

Twirl

What does a busy mom do with 2 kids in school.  Make a cool twirl skirt for the 3rd kid.  She loves to twirl around in it.

1st day of schoool

We have completed the 1st week of school, and I am finally getting around to posting pictures of the 1st Day.
We also had to take a picture on the 2nd day too.  Just because she looked so cute in her wrinkled shirt.

Day downtown

As we were preparing to go back to school, I have had some fun outings with the kids.  We spent one day last week going downtown.  We went to the main library to play, then took a bunch of mermaid pictures and  I let the kids play in the fountains downtown.  They loved it, and we discovered they have lawn games at the downtown park for free.  It was a great day spent just being tourists at home.

Wards Corner - Mermaid - 24

We are discovering some challenges with our mermaid pictures.  There are several mermaids like this one.  Mounted on rooftops, or high on the side of a building. We found 3 of these on one day.  This is in Wards Corner shopping center.  There was also one on the 2nd floor of the World trade center and one on the roof of another downtown office building.  I could have asked to go into the office buildings, but all 3 kids were in bathing suits, so I thought I should wait before walking into a professional building.

Maid In Voyage - Mermaid - 22

This is in front of the Sail Norfolk office in downtown Norfolk.  The kids pointed out that it had another mermaid on the front of the mermaid. One of the coolest mermaids we have seen.

Bowling

We took the kids bowling for the first time ever. We met Daddy after work since the bowling alley is across the street from his office. They loved it, and the bumpers would go up for the kids and then down when it was the adults turn.  The kids beat us on the first game, but that may be due to the fact that they had bumpers and they had this neat little ramp.  Munchkin actually won the first game, with help aiming the ramp, but Daddy rebounded to win the second game. By the way Aunty R.  If you come to visit this fall,  the kids REALLY want to take their cousins bowling. Buddy thinks he can beat his cousin C.
Buddy was very excited for each frame and could not wait for his turn.
The ball was a little heavy for Munchkin, but somehow she managed. She dropped it once, but thankfully not on anyone's toes or fingers.
