Child Labor

We believe in child labor around the house... actually the kids really wanted to help daddy scrub the floor. I need them to do this more often.

Dress up with friends

I love the fact that Munchkin is standing on top of Buddy under the bin. He wanted her to do that too. I don't know why.

Baking

We spent time in the house baking, the kids and I made cookies, and banana bread. They love both and were excited to have banana bread for breakfast.

Days at home

This week brought new meaning to staying at home, everyone was home for veterans day and then the storm came and school was cancelled for the rest of the week. It was a crazy week. Now I get to write about all our adventures.

Princess got to sing with her class for chapel at school and each of the grades was assigned and armed services to learn their song. This was the 1st grade contribution.... (sorry it is a little dark)

The tooth

It took a week, but the tooth finally came out. We spent the day in Williamsburg being tourists and had a great time. I wanted to check out some non-child friendly toys and so Daddy took them to the candy store and got each of them a candy. Princess's tooth came out mid-bite of a chocolate. She was very excited. Now she has the tooth in the little pillow on her bed. Hopefully the tooth fairy will come tonight.

Halloween

These are for my sister, she keeps asking me where the Halloween pictures of the kids are, so here they are. We have a pixie Fairie, and but then she got a got her first loose tooth while we were eating pizza for dinner, so she became the tooth fairy. This was our knight in shining armor, he was not a very cheerful knight and would not smile for the camera. We had a very cheerful Duck, so LOVED the candy and I have had to move her candy several times because she will climb things to get her candy.

Chicken Girl

We usually like to cook, but sometimes things don't always turn out like we expect. I made beer can Chicken last night, and it is not something I do often, so I was really looking forward to it. Of course it didn't turn out like I expected. The vegetables and baked potatoes were done on time, but the chicken wasn't cooked through yet. So of course we ate the veggies and then when the chicken was ready about 40 minutes later. It was delicious. We ate it standing around the kitchen. One little girl really loved the chicken, she loved climbing up on the stool and grabbing some before going back to the table to eat it. The other kids didn't want any, but this little kid just kept coming back.

Hoppy

Buddy got to bring home Hoppy for a few days. He is the little frog that has adventures with each of his classmates. We get to take pictures and write in his journal to show all of his friends what we did for a few days. Buddy had lots of fun playing with Buddy, but it didn't start out that way. Buddy was supposed to bring home Hoppy last week, but cried when the teacher tried to give it to him. We finally figured out that the teacher emphasises that they are not supposed to let little babies play with Hoppy or scribble in his journal. (to protect him) Buddy didn't want to take Hoppy home because he couldn't share Hoppy with Munchkin. His wonderful teacher found an extra frog in her supply just so that Buddy could share. It turned into a great few days and I love the fact that he was so excited to share with his little sister.

Turkey Feather

Buddy has some homework for preschool. We got to decorate a feather to be part of a big turkey on the bulletin board at school. the directions indicated that it needed to be 3 dimensional and they they wanted something more than just coloring the feather. We got creative. First we used the watercolor paints and painted a bunch of coffee filters with lots of colors, then we cut/ripped those into smaller pieces, then we crumpled them up and used the glue stick to attach them to the feather. I think it turned out fantastic and Buddy loved all the cool steps and some one on one time with mommy while Munchkin took her nap. He is very proud of his creation.

Munchkin play day

Usually when the 2 big kids are in school, Munchkin and I run errands and get stuff done around the house. It isn't much fun for her, but I want to take advantage of the time with only one kid. This week I had a bunch of errands to do but I had some time after they were done. I took Munchkin to the park and let her play. She had a blast and loved being the center of attention. I wished I had my camera because she had a smile on her face from the time we got out of the van until we left. We were there for over an hour.

Taking munchkin to the park made me think. I haven't ever taken just her to the park before. That is usually an activity for all the kids, and my attention is divided. When I only had one child, I was scheduling all sorts of play dates and activities, but now that Munchkin is the same age, I am too busy with the other kids to do much of that for the baby. I need to remember to make time for fun with each child as they go through all the stages of growth and development. Each of my kids is different in their own way and it is hard to make time for each kid, but after having lots of fun at the park today it reminded me to take the time and have some fun.

THANKS GRANDMA

Buddy got a new bathrobe in the mail from Grandma, He was very excited and had to put it on right away. He also specifically asked if we could get the camera and take a picture of the big kids in their bathrobes. Princess has had her robe for a while and wears it all the time, now I am sure we will see these 2 in the robes every morning. Thank you grandma!!!

How do you watch Sesame Street?

This little girl loves Sesame Street. She was moving her feet in time to the Elmo song.
