Star bright

Princess had a little pageant in her classroom on the last day of school, she got to be the Star, it was very cute and she was very excited. She also got to be Mary's cousin. She was very excited. The class also sang songs for all the parents.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas is tomorrow and I have had the time to enjoy my family. We are spending lots of time playing, reading and going on walks. This year we are not traveling to see any extended family and are spending Christmas at home. I will miss seeing everyone, but I am enjoying being home.
Today is the last day of my daily blogs about Christmas and I want to remember the true gift of Jesus on Christmas. Take the time to read the Christmas story and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus.

Princess's star

Princess made this one, it is supposed to be a star, but it moved before the glue dried. I think I love it's character.

Gift Boxes

I like making things with my hands, It is fun and I try to be creative. Actually I just copy things other people do on their blog. This year I found these gift card boxes on Heather Bailey's web page, they are really simple and make the gift cards for teachers look fantastic. All you need is cardstock, scissors and a glue stick.

Buddy's ornaments

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without handmade ornaments on the tree, this is one of my favorites that Buddy made this year. This is his handprint on a ball and then drawn on snowman faces. I love it.

Books

We love books in our house, and at Christmas time, we have lots of Christmas stories to read in front of the tree. One of our favorites is the Bear series by Karma Wilson. This week buddy brought the Christmas one from the library to go with the set. We also got a new one for Munchkins Birthday. Of course we had to read all of them together.

Performances

Christmas is always fun to watch the kids in their little perfomances. The big kids were in a pageant at church where Buddy was a shepherd and Princess was an angel. They also sang in a special chapel at church. I had Munchkin with me so I didn't get any pictures of that. The loved it and did a great job. One more little perfomance by Princesses class on the last day of school. I am looking forward to seeing my little Star.

Munchkin is 2!!

Munchkin had her birthday this week, she is now officially 2 years old. She is really funny and she loves to show us her personality. She keeps up laughing, last week it was the sun hat with the winter coat. She blew out the candles on her cake all by herself. She loved her chocolate cupcake, it amazes me how big she is getting.

70's Fashion Ornaments

Some of my ornaments are ones that I got from my parents that they didn't really like. Just like I have ornaments that I don't like but my kids love. My mom made these really early in their marriage, they were probably made because at the time there wasn't a lot of money to buy ornaments. I don't remember them not being on the tree at home. I do remember being older and my mom trying to hide them so they wouldn't go on the tree. I have a few of these and I think they will always be on my tree.

Advent Calendar

This is the advent calendar that we use. I got it a few years ago and the kids fight every morning about who gets to move the figure from the bottom to the top. It is not exactly accurate since it has a figure of the little drummer boy. It is an important part of our Christmas preparations.

Wrappings and Bows

I am a little strange in that I like to wrap presesents, they are part of the entire Christmas experience. I am also pretty picky about how things are wrapped. This year I am trying to be creative and use some of the ideas that I have seen. some look good, some not so good.

Animal Parade

My favorite ornaments are not necessarily the kids favorite ornaments. They like having their own little animal parade.

Every person needs a little lobster once in a while.

Little things

I like this little pocket, it hangs in the stairwell and the kids like to stuff little things in the pocket.

Quilts

My house and seasonal decorating would not be complete without changing the quilt on the dining room wall. This is the Christmas quilt.
